Pre-Departure

  1. Only domestic travelers arriving form the U.S. or its territories need to register with the State of Hawaii Safe Travelsonline system. Pre-travel testing is an alternative to the state's mandatory five-day self-quarantine (updated on January 3, 2022 based on the CDC guidelines.) Travelers may elect to take a pre-travel COVID-19 NAAT from a state of Hawaii Trusted Testing and Travel Partnerwithin 72 hours of departing on the last leg of their trip to Hawaii. To avoid the state's mandatory five-day sefl-quarantine, the negative test result must be uploaded piror to departure of the last leg.

  2. There are no pre-travel testing or other requirements needed for inter-county travel between the Hawaiian Islands. However, if a traveler enters the state and is places in quarantine, they MUST remain at their designated quarantine location. They can't change the location and will no be allowed to fly inter-county.

  3. Give yourself extra time to get through airport security. Testing and requirements prior to arrival are noted in the Testing section above.

In Flight and Arrival

  1. 24 hours prior to departure, answer the health questionnnare on your Safe Travels account. This requirement will end on January 4, 2022.

  2. While in flight and deplaning, travelers must follow the guidance of their air carrier regarding physical distancing, mask wearing and sanitation processes.

  3. All incoming Hawaii Travelers will have their temperature checked upon arrival.

  4. Should travelers have a temperature of 100.4 degrees F or higher or display COVID-19 symptoms, they will be required to complete a secondary screening at the airport performed by trained health care staff.

  5. Travelers who arrive from a trans-pacific flight and pass through the airport screeners without a valid negative COVID-19 NAAT from the state of Hawaii's Trusted Testing and Travel Partners list of not fully vaccinated, will be subject to the state's mandatory five-day self-quarantine.
